Thoughts from Takahagi, Japan 11.6.14

In a lifetime, we are sure to have ebbs and flows, ups and downs, some more profound than others. Without the downs, we wouldn't appreciate the happiness and the joy, and without the highs, we wouldn't grow from the struggles and the soul-crushing sadness. One must know both sides of the coin, even if one side seems shinier and more appealing than the other at the moment.

Currently, I sit in limbo; experiencing neither bliss nor despair. When apathy sets in, it is time to practice gratitude as there is always so much for which to be thankful. So, friends, near and far, thank you for the regular hugs and high-fives; the side-splitting laughter; the listening ear; the unwavering support; the night time bike rides; the winning and losing nights of trivia; the sarcastic comments over burritos and beer; but most importantly, all of the sass.
